According to the provisions of the Act, the Body Corporate is made up of all the owners of units in the Village. They, together with the administration staff, play a vital role in ensuring that the Village is run efficiently, and operates according to the Act.
Owners hand over responsibility to the six Trustees whom they appoint at the Annual General Meeting. Trustees are responsible for the control, management and administration of the common property of the Village, and for the enforcement of the rules. This includes all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, insurance, meetings, banking and finance, and legal matters. The Trustees appoint staff to assist them in managing and administering the Village. Members of the Board of Trustees, together with other residents, contribute a valuable accumulation of experience to the management of the scheme.
The Village is managed by a General Manager, appointed by the Trustees. She is fully responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the Village. Under the General Manager’s guidance and direction, the Care Centre Manager, the Estate Manager, the Grounds Manager and the contracted-out services covering security, and catering services, operate independently, controlling separate staffing structures.
The Finance and Administration offices are situated in the centre of the Village, adjacent to the Community Centre and the Frail Care Centre. There is a Reception Office that operates during normal working hours. Residents may obtain information from the notice boards in Reception, or seek help from the staff. Post and daily newspapers may be collected from individual post boxes. Stamps are on sale and letters are taken each day for posting at the Howick Post Office. Rates and electricity payments may be left in Reception for delivery to the Municipal Offices.
